Pittsfield Cooperative Bank donates $5,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires

PITTSFIELD, MA—June 27, 2023—The Boys and Girls Club of the Berkshires received a donation last week of $5,000 from the Pittsfield Cooperative Bank. Half of the funds will be directed to the Drop-In Program, while the remaining will be used to support their annual Children First Golf tournament. The Drop-In Program provides children a safe and fun environment with activities that promote physical, social and emotional development. This is accomplished by employing caring adult professionals, and utilizing nationally tested programs including those that are evidence-based.

“We are pleased to make this contribution to the Boys and Girls Club, which is devoted to shaping the lives of youth in the Berkshires,” stated J. Jay Anderson, president and CEO of Pittsfield Cooperative Bank. “The kids are the future of our community and the resources we provide them with now are the key to their success.”

The Drop-In programs are included with a membership to the club, which is open to children aged PreSchool to grade 12. The programs feature various activities to give kids the space to learn and grow. Free swim, homework help, and career preparation are a few of the many programs offered.

“We are very grateful to Pittsfield Cooperative Bank for their generous donation,” stated CEO Joseph McGovern of the Boys & Girls Clun of the Berkshires. “The Drop-In has been a highly successful national program by focusing on building children’s character and leadership skills while combining it with artistic, fitness and recreational activities.”

The Annual Children First Golf tournament has been around for over 20 years, in memory of Gerard Miller, who was an active member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Berkshires. Funds raised through the tournament help support programs for our community’s youth. The tournament is scheduled for September 11, 2023 at the Country Club of Pittsfield.
